THE VERY SHORT VERSION.
From BFA to built worlds.
Better known on the (suburban) streets as ToRo. Tony Rochester, if the website URL was too subtle.
Wisco born and educated. Colorado-based for the other half of my life. I earned my fine arts degree in design while turning wrenches on fighter jets. Both required attention to detail. One was less forgiving.
My work moves between brands, environments, and experiences. I see the connections first, then get into the details. Sometimes the strategy needs work. Sometimes it’s the material. Occasionally, we need to ask why we’re making the thing at all. Ideally before we’ve paid for it.
I’ve had my flings with digital, social, advertising, and web. We had fun. But I’m drawn to something more lasting. Places and things people spend time with, feel something about, and come back to. Design that holds up long enough for someone to get upset when you change it.
Often at a hockey rink, in the outdoors or driving back from the airport. Still convinced the garage has room for one more hobby. Measurements suggest otherwise.
